James Clapper Swipes At John Brennan Over His Anti-Trump Nonsense

The former director of national intelligence in the Obama administration, James Clapper, a CNN analyst, slapped at former CIA Director John Brennan on Sunday, saying that his former colleague’s anti-Trump rhetoric has become “an issue in and of itself.”

During a panel discussion about President Trump’s decision to revoke Brennan’s security clearance, Jake Tapper asked Clapper, “Do you think that John Brennan’s hyperbole is an issue here, is one of the reasons we’re having this crisis?”

“I think it is,” said Clapper. “John is sort of like a freight train and he’s gonna say what’s on his mind.”

“John and his rhetoric have become an issue in and of itself,” he added.

Trump revoked Brennan’s security clearance on Wednesday, and all hell broke loose in the Never Trump swamp.

“Historically, former heads of intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been allowed to retain access to classified information after their government service so that they can consult with their successors regarding matters about which they may have special insight and as a professional courtesy,” Trump said in a statement.

Trump continued, saying “Neither of these justifications supports Mr. Brennan’s continued access to classified information.”

From The Daily Caller:

Brennan has been among the most vocal Obama administration critics of Trump. He has accused the Republican of being “treasonous.”

The administration is also considering revoking security clearances for Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, Michael Hayden, Sally Yates, Susan Rice, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Bruce Ohr.

Clapper was among a dozen former intelligence community officials who issued a letter on Thursday in support of Brennan.

“You don’t have to agree with what John Brennan says (and, again, not all of us do) to agree with his right to say it, subject to his obligation to protect classified information,” the retired officials wrote.

What on Lucifer’s black beach are these people talking about?  Revoking Brennan’s security clearance has not removed his right to say anything.  Brennan can still go on television, or write an op ed, or use whatever means of communication he wants, at any time, to speak disrespectfully about the president.  His free speech rights are still intact.  No one has silenced John Brennan.  So, then why have these intelligence folks acting like Brennan lost his First Amendment rights?

I think the bigger story here is that for intelligence officials, who do know better, to come out and say that by removing Brennan’s security clearance Trump threatened Brennan’s right to speak his mind, illustrates a conspiracy of sorts, among some in the intelligence community, to make Trump look like he did something wrong.

Here it is in a nutshell.  The president has the authority to remove anyone’s security clearance for anything and at any time.  A security clearance does not belong to the person who holds it.  Even by the standard set for a former CIA chief holding onto his security clearance after leaving employment with the government, John Brennan violated that when he stopped acting like a current CIA director would act in public.  John Brennan works as a national security analyst for NBC News, and he is upset now that he can’t peddle his influence for the network, and it may cost him monetarily.  That, and his gigantic ego is bruised.

John Brennan was allegedly involved in the dissemination of the phony anti-Trump Steele dossier by peddling it all over the federal government in an attempt to help the corrupt members of the Obama DOJ and FBI who participated in the first ever government coup to take down candidate, then President Donald Trump.   To paraphrase Shakespeare, “Methinks thou doth protest too much.”  It could be that John Brennan has been going all high-strung bonkers since Trump was elected, because he thinks by acting so loud and boldly that it will serve as a preemptive strike to wipe out the appearance of his own culpability in the felonies that were committed against Trump during and after the 2016 presidential election in the minds of the American people.
