Let’s face it. Robert Francis “The Irishman” Beto O’Rourke is becoming desperate, which happens to some politicians when it hits them squarely in the face that their campaign is failing like a snowball trying to stay alive in the Texas heat.
The former congressman from Texas was at an event this week with immigrant and “refugee” participants where he was asked how as president he would fight white supremacy in the US.
“I know this from my home state, Texas, places that formed the Confederacy, that this country was founded on white supremacy,” the poorly polling 2020 Democratic primary candidate responded.
Wrong, Dumbo. The country was founded on liberty, and Democrats, your party, ran slavery.
He continued, “And every single institution and structure that we have in this country still reflects the legacy of slavery and segregation and Jim Crow and suppression, even in our democracy.”
No wonder this guy is failing. First, it is his party, not America, that has the legacy of slavery and segregation and Jim Crow and suppression. And for the love of Pete, can someone please explain to this nitwit that we do not live in a democracy?
Our Founders hated the idea of a democracy. That’s why the word is not listed in our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, or the Bill of Rights. A republican form of government is listed, and apparently, O’Rourke doesn’t know this.
Benjamin Franklin once said that “democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.”
In a constitutional republic, the lamb would own a gun.
Think about the irony here. O’Rourke was telling immigrants and refugees that the country they almost died to get to is a racist haven of white supremacy felt in every institution. What an idiot.
You have to be pretty desperate to trash your country this way, knowing that the very people you want to vote for you are listening. They are getting your message, and though America has its problems, it’s still the greatest country ever designed throughout human history. That’s why so many people risk their lives to get here.
In light of our flawed history, it is disingenuous to state that the country was founded on white supremacy.
From the Washington Examiner:
If there is anything wrong with America, it is the bored, rich white guys — the type who marry billionaire heiresses and manage somehow to evade certain DUI charges — who exasperate the worst of our cultural battles and fear-monger using the worst of America’s problems because they think it will boost them politically.
But when one’s numbers are in the dirt, and when one is a craven opportunist, I suppose that leaves one with no choice but to adopt increasingly insane positions in the hope that it will excite the loudest members of one’s base.
Since the day he announced he was running, he has turned a complete 180 from when he stated he had zero interest in running not long beforehand, O’Rourke has said many stupid things he got a pass on that no Republican would ever get. Things like blaming “climate change” for the current border crisis, and he was against impeaching President Trump, then he was for it, and then against it, and now he’s for it again, O’Rourke responded “absolutely” to an interview question about being for tearing down existing border fencing in his state.
It’s almost as if the former congressman wets his finger and sticks it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing.
How dumb is it for a rich white guy running for president to tell the public that rich white guys like himself destroyed the country? His entire platform alienates him from over half the country. And he thinks that’s a winning strategy!
