What a terrible choice this is. Both James Comey and Susan Rice are pathological liars. So who do you choose? In this particular instance, we are talking about the secret meeting in the Oval Office that included Barack Obama, Sally Yates, James Comey and Susan Rice. This meeting took place on January 5th, 2017. We recently learned about the meeting through an email written by Susan Rice, written two weeks after the meeting and is apparently an attempt to cover Obama’s glutinous maximus. The email was sent by Susan Rice to herself.
The email read in part:
President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book’. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”
That was written on January 20th, Inauguration Day, two weeks after the meeting. It was also the day before Comey met with Trump and lied to his face when he told him that he was not a target of the probe.
Grassley said in a letter to Susan Rice:
“It strikes us as odd that, among your activities in the final moments on the final day of the Obama administration, you would feel the need to send yourself such an unusual email purporting to document a conversation involving President Obama and his interactions with the FBI regarding the Trump/Russia investigation. In addition, despite your claim that President Obama repeatedly told Mr. Comey to proceed ‘by the book,’ substantial questions have arisen about whether officials at the FBI, as well as at the Justice Department and the State Department, actually did proceed ‘by the book.’”
He claims he met with Obama late in 2016 to say goodbye and never after that. It turns out that if Rice is telling the truth about the January meeting that Comey lied to congress under oath.
….I felt compelled to document my first conversation with the President-Elect in a memo. To ensure accuracy, I began to type it on a laptop in an FBI vehicle outside Trump Tower the moment I walked out of the meeting. Creating written records immediately after one-on-one conversations with Mr. Trump was my practice from that point forward. This had not been my practice in the past. I spoke alone with President Obama twice in person (and never on the phone) — once in 2015 to discuss law enforcement policy issues and a second time, briefly, for him to say goodbye in late 2016. In neither of those circumstances did I memorialize the discussions. I can recall nine one-on-one conversations with President Trump in four months — three in person and six on the phone….
Evidently one or the other are lying. Ordinarily I would have said both lied but one of them had to be telling the truth. Since Rice’s memo was written for the express purpose to be discovered, I would have to suppose hers is the truthful statement, although everything out of her mouth is generally a lie including “the” and “and”.
