Kanye West Goes on Kimmel, Defends His Support of President Trump

Kanye West says that he used to be afraid of stating his support for Trump, and that it took him a year and a half to get over that fear. He said that those who worked with him had warned him about supporting Trump because it could destroy his career. But, after coming out for Trump, Kanye released a new album amid calls for a boycott of his work. Needless to say, it was a smash hit, with every song on the album hitting the top 40, and at one time, his album was number one in 73 countries. So much for ending his career. He can now often be seen wearing his MAGA hat.

From The Daily Caller

Rapper and Trump supporter Kanye West appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday and continued to stand by his positive statements about the commander-in-chief.

“Just as a musician, African-American guy out in Hollywood, all these different things, you know, everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me,” West said. (RELATED: Colbert Claims Kanye West Has Lost His Mind For Supporting Trump)

“And then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over. I’d get kicked out of the black community because blacks — we’re supposed to have a monolithic thought, we can only, like, we can only be Democrats and all.”

West claimed it took time for him to find the “confidence to stand up” and wear a MAGA hat, but once he did, it served as a symbol of his ability to overcome his fears.

He also told Kimmel that he will not allow liberals to bully him. He even said it makes him happy when people get mad at him for the things he says. Why not? They tried to boycott him – but he is now bigger than ever. It pays to speak your mind and not hide from controversy.

A personal message from David…

“I still remember exactly where I was when I saw that Kanye West tweeted “I like the way Candace Owens thinks”. It sent shockwaves through my entire being. To have someone as iconic as Kanye, an individual revered as a hip-hop idol to millions and millions of young black youth, acknowledge a black conservative’s point of view, I knew it was groundbreaking. When has that ever happened? When has a prominent black American come out and vocally supported a champion for the conservative movement. It hasn’t happened. But when Kanye tweeted that, after 18 months of not tweeting a single word, I knew this was the beginning of history in the making…

You see, politics is downstream from culture. And since our hip-hop culture, as well as our Hollywood culture, is drenched in a leftist ideologies that support the Democrat party, it is literally a career ending suicidal move to do what Kanye did. But he did it anyway!

Now that I am connected with Candace Owens, I am privy to some of what lies ahead… And I am so, so very excited! Pray for us, that God will continue to open doors, and make connections, and that the black community will embrace what is coming…”
